Dance Nation

LoneTree Live Theatre Co., Evergreen Theater Spring 2025

Directed by Jamie Boller Choreographed by Angel Ceara Clark Written by Clare Barron

“A group of hyper-competitive 13-year-old dancers prepare for a national dance competition in Tampa. Led by their demanding dance teacher Pat, the girls compete fiercely for attention and success. Amina, one of the strongest dancers, becomes increasingly obsessed with winning and standing out, which strains her friendships with teammates, especially when she is passed up for the solo dance number in favor of her friend, Zuzu. The dancers confront injuries, puberty, crushes, and emotional outbursts while trying to maintain confidence. As tensions rise before nationals, the girls experience moments of betrayal and insecurity, self-discovery and heartwrenching anxiety, culminating in a chaotic but emotional performance that reflects both their ambition and the turbulence of growing up.”
