“1941: As the bombs fall and the Blitz terrorizes London, Alice Spencer takes shelter in a London Underground station with her close friend Alfred. When Alfred becomes seriously ill with tuberculosis and is quarantined by the authorities, Alice begins reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland to him. The people in the shelter transform in her imagination into Wonderland characters, and Alice journeys through surreal encounters with figures like the Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter, and the Cheshire Cat. As Alfred’s condition worsens, Alice struggles between escaping into fantasy and facing reality. In the end, she accepts Alfred’s death and emerges from Wonderland emotionally changed, ready to confront the world around her.”
